Two Options

- Set up a company: In order to obtain a villa under a freehold arrangement, an investor must set up their own Thai Limited Company. While the company will own the property titles, the investor will be made the Managing Director of the company, granting him or her the company’s decision-making rights.
- Invest USD 1 million in approved Thai investment strategies: Alternatively, an investor may choose to invest a minimum of 1 million USD in Thai companies, securities or stocks. After which, the investor may seek approval from Thailand’s Board of Investment Promotion (BOI) to hold a freehold title. Upon approval, the investor may then be permitted to hold a freehold title for property of up to 1,600 square meters.
KASA, possessing extensive knowledge in foreign investment affairs, recommends buyers freehold titles if property is purchased primarily as an investment, since in essence, the buyer will have all legal rights over the property. With total control, the buyer is certified to sell the property, earning him or her a sizable profit once the property appreciates in value.
